Due to its long 13 foot length, it has good hull speed and, in combination with the skeg tracking fin, will be easy to maintain a straight line in good conditions. Taken together the Expedition Kayak can be paddled with relative ease.

Pros:

  • The triple layer polyester with double PVC coating offers superb puncture resistance.
  • The Advanced Frame Expedition kayak has 9 bouyancy chambers which means that it is an extreamly safe and stable vessel. Even with the cockpit swamped the bouancy chambers will keep the kayak aflote.
  • The long length allows for plenty of space to store camping gear, or other personal equipment and still maintain plenty of leg room. The zips on the deck allows for easy access to the inside of the hull to access your gear, or even to allow you to carry a small passenger, perhaps your dog.
  • The seat back is inflatable and adjustable to allow for comfort and reduces back ache on long trips.
  • The new easy to use spring and twistlock valves allow for speedy inflation and deflation of the kayak.

Cons:

  • The Advanced Frame Expedition Inflatable Kayak sits quite high out of the water, although this will tend to keep you drier, it will catch the wind more. In high wind conditions paddling in a straight line can be a problem.
  • The material and zips on the hull aren’t completely waterproof, so expect to get a little wet.
  • As with most inflatable kayaks it can be difficult to fold up and repack into the canvas storage bag when wet.
