Pros:
- The Straitedge Kayak is quick and easy to inflate and deflate. There is nothing to put together, just unpack and inflate and attach the seat. This means that you can be in the water in minutes after taking the kayak out of your car trunk.
- Very stable, even a novice will feel secure taking on rapids or out to sea riding swells with consummate ease.
- It has self-bailing ports. These can be shut during flat-water conditions or can be opened whilst at sea or in white-water, or any conditions that water is likely to break over the kayak. This ensures that any water that does find its way into the kayak is
swiftly and automatically bailed out. This will ensure that the kayak will remain highly responsive in these trying conditions.
- The aluminum bow and stern of the Straitedge Kayak increases the tracking in calm conditions, slicing through the water with the ease of any equivalent hard-shell.
- It is easy to climb back into from the water. So, if you do happen to fall out or just decide you want a swim, there won’t be a problem with climbing back in.
- There is also plenty of space for extra gear for an overnight camping trip with bungee deck lacing to keep it tied down.
Cons:
- The seat back rest of the Straitedge Kayak could be better. It is ok for short periods of paddling, but for longer trips or for long hours out on the lake then back ache could become a problem for some.
Summary:
The Advanced Elements Straitedge Inflatable kayak, has a very sporty image with the performance to rival a hard-shell. Extremely fast, maneuverable and stable. Equally at home in white-water, on a lake or out to sea.
It also has the advantage of being able to deflate it fold it up and pack into a bag. You can then throw it into the trunk of your car and drive to your next area of water quickly and without the need of a roof rack.
