The Straitedge 2 Inflatable Kayak is a Sit-On-Top type kayak that can be adjusted for solo or tandem paddling. It is an extremely stable and comfortable kayak. The aluminum frame incorporated in the stern and bow ensures that the kayak will cut gracefully through the water with ease. The stern also acts as a skeg thus increasing the tracking performance of the kayak. Designed for use in lakes at sea or on rivers of between a Class I and III.

The StraitEdge 2 Kayak

Pros:

  • Aluminum frames in the bow and stern increase the ability to cut through the water and the tracking capability.
  • Extremely stable, even a novice will find it hard to tip over. This can only increase the enjoyment of being out on the water.
  • Self-Bailing Ports situated in the floor of the kayak. So in any condition where water breaks over the kayak any water that will accumulate in the kayak will automatically be emptied. This will maintain the responsiveness of the kayak even with a lot of water breaking over the deck.
  • The Straitedge 2 kayak can have different seating configurations. Have it set with only one seat for solo paddling or two seats for tandem paddling. The seats can also be fitted so that they face each other, thus turning the kayak into a floating picnic raft.
  • There is plenty of deck space and bungee deck lacing to carry and tie down extra gear, such as camping gear. With a load capacity of 500lbs you will easily carry all you need for a weekend away.
  • The incredibly robust material the kayak is made from ensures it has a puncture resistance second to none. It also has the ability to resist scratches and scuffs from being dragged or knocked.

Cons:

  • If the Straitedge 2 Inflatable Kayak has any faults, it lies in your ability to easily maintain a straight line. Even with the aluminum framed stern acting as a skeg it can be a bit difficult to maintain. However, this can easily be overcome with practice and team building between the two paddlers. Once an efficient paddling technique has been adopted by both parties the kayaks course and maneuverability can be maintained with comparative ease.

Summary:

The Straitedge 2 tandem kayak is a fairly lightweight and responsive kayak. Equally at home at sea as it is on lakes or fast flowing rivers. Its stability and comfort means that even novice kayakers will be confident enough to take on low-level rapids.

Easily inflated and deflated, stored and carried. So for a relaxing, comfortable day out on the river, you will be hard pressed to beat this kayak.
